Getting Started with Hazard Mitigation Projects & Plans

COLLABORATE. PLAN. WORK SAFELY.

Satellite-mapping technology enables project leaders to easily pinpoint and annotate common site action points, including work areas, hazardous material zones, contamination and decontamination areas, site perimeters, rally and access points, evacuation routes and more. Project worksheets, floor plans, location images and more can also be uploaded within your site Plan. Health and safety officers, project managers, site contractors, compliance officials, plus networks of local first responders can simply collaborate in the development of Plans.

In this article, we will explain:

  • The basic steps to create Hazard Mitigation Projects and Plans
  • Hazard Mitigation Maps and Resources

HAZARD MITIGATION PROJECTS AND PLANS

To create Hazard Mitigation Projects and Plans:

  1. Create Groups
  2. Identify and Add Agencies
  3. Create a Hazard Mitigation Project
  4. Select a geographic location for your Hazard Mitigation Plan(s)
  5. Populate your Plan Maps with Pins or create custom Maps and Pins
  6. Populate your Plan Resources (such as worksheets and images) with content
  7. Invite Users
  8. Assign project permissions
  9. Export and share your plan PDF

HAZARD MITIGATION MAPS AND RESOURCES

Maps and Pins: When creating your Plans, you will select a Map. A Map is similar to a template and each Map has a collection of Pins to meet an objective. Pins are action points that are placed on a geographic location. Community Partner Agencies, such as Fire and Law Enforcement, can be assigned to a Pin, and supplemental information can be included. Custom Maps and custom Pins can easily be created to fit your needs. To learn more, visit the Create and Manage Maps article and the Create and Manage Pins article.
